The definition of sculpture is based on culturally diverse concepts and issues. Sculpture may or may not be an object. It may be a performance, an installation, a manipulated place or site or concept. Students learn skills in constructive and reductive techniques in various media, including wood, stone, metal and plaster, as well as new media, installation and performance.

In addition, they are introduced to environmental and political issues as well as cultural context. Students acquire an understanding of the variations in sculptural production and application relative to personal, commercial and public consumption.
