GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FINE ARTS Level 7

The one year Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts will enable you to gain skills, techniques and knowledge in either glass*, painting, printmaking, photography or sculpture and to examine theories underlying contemporary art practice.
Career opportunities include studio art, arts management, museum practice, specialist publishing and printing and teaching specialist fine arts subjects for qualified secondary and primary school teachers.

Programme Content
The GDFA is primarily studio based, consisting of 4 specialist fine arts practice papers and 2 theory papers. You will work intensively within your chosen specialist Fine Arts subject, culminating in a major exhibition of work and a written exposition of your art practice.


Graduates will:
• demonstrate technical, formal and conceptual expertise within one fine arts specialist subject;
• have investigated and written an exposition of their fine art work which evaluates the relationship between theoretical constructs and personal art practice;
• display expertise in critical and analytical thinking through art work and its exposition, and • be qualified for entry to further post-graduate education.


Entry requirements
Entry is open to graduates with a Bachelor degree from an accredited provider. International students are required to have IELTS 6.0, or equivalent (academic equivalency will be assessed on application). Entry is also open to practicing artists who can demonstrate appropriate practical, professional or educational experience.
Those entering with a Bachelor degree and IELTS will be required to present either an original or certified copy of their academic transcript from the awarding institute.

Domestic students: NZD$5,408 International students: NZD$17,122
