The Quay School for the Arts is located on the banks of the historic Whanganui River and is only a block from the Central Business District of Wanganui. The Quay School, nestled in the historic turn of the century warehouse district is part of a newly completed complex of buildings which house the award winning schools of  Graphic Design,  Fashion, and Culinary Arts amongst others.

The Quay School is within an easy walk of the Sarjeant Art Gallery, The Whanganui Regional Museum, the Wanganui District Library and  dealer galleries. Our own galleries, the Edith Gallery and Federal Hotel Gallery, support student, faculty and  visiting artist exhibitions.

Student studio spaces and workshops housing Painting, Photography, Glass*, Printmaking and Sculpture are second to none in New Zealand and with small classes. Access to our internationally trained lecturers, all artists and academics, is a welcome support during your art degree. Our students have gone on to become outstanding, award winning studio artists, teachers, museum and gallery professionals and are represented in collections throughout the world.

*Glass will continue to be offered as a part of the BFA programme at the Wanganui Glass School, a facility operated with the assistance and support of the Wanganui District Council.
